Oops, you're right, they use GPSBABEL, which in fact is a 
terminal/shell application, so this should show me the way to go with 
TEQC.

ls cu.* yields

cu.IrDA-IrCOMMch-b      cu.modem

on my PowerBook, so I hope I'll see a USB-Serial turn up there. Anyone 
a clue what the cu thing means?
