Andy, the 32-bit builds of Linux are done on a Red Hat 9.x (Shrike) distro;
the dynamically-linked 64-bit build of Linux is done on a Red Hat Enterprise
(ES release 3 (Taroon Update 4) distro.  If your SL system is 64-bit, you
might want to try the latter.
