[teqc] helpful tip of week 1930

This week's tip: more on '-O.sum' ...

... or '+O.sum'; see http://postal.unavco.org/pipermail/teqc/2016/002204.html

This is just a few additional notes on some aspects of using this handy option. Keep in
mind that starting with the 2016 Nov 7 version, any observable column from '-O.sum' which
has zero observables for all SVs will not be output.

First, if reading a raw data file (i.e. not RINEX), you may want to include the '+all'
option to get a count of all non-doppler observables. Otherwise, you will only get a
listing of the default observables, which is a list that is based on the legacy signals
of GPS and GLONASS. But if you also what to see doppler listed, then skip '+all' and
use '-O.obs' to list all observables that you want including doppler.

If you are using this option on a RINEX observable file, then the default output will
be to sum up the observables that are listed in the RINEX header. This can of course
be decreased by changing the observables with '-O.obs' to list only the observables
that you want.

Second, there is a distinct difference between '-O.sum' results and observable counts
in a full qc long report for each SV:
o '-O.sum' reports everything in a file and is not doing a qc
o if qc full and assuming ephemerides exist for the SV so that its position can be
     determined, the observable counts are only for when the SV is above the elevation mask;
if qc lite or there is insufficient ephemerides for an SV, the full report counts
     should equal the '-O.sum' values

Third, starting with the 2016 Nov 7 version, you should be able to use the '-O.sum' option with
either the '+meta' or '+mds' options (see http://postal.unavco.org/pipermail/teqc/2016/002206.html) --
and this should work with one or more files, as long as the format of the files listed on
a single teqc command are of the same type. For example, using (hourly 1-sec) Leica MDB files:

[304] teqc -notice -E -S -C -R -S +all -O.sum . +mds GRAC001c.m00 GRAC001d.m00

This is a pretty handy way to see what is in a batch of files.

Happy teqc-ing!
