This week's tip: the '+ion_p' options

The '+ion_p' options are for outputting any "ionospheric model parameters" that might
be in the raw data being read by teqc:

[6771] teqc +help | grep ion_p
+ion_p[aram] . output any ionosphere model parameters to stdout
+ion_p[aram] .. output any ionosphere model parameters to stderr
+ion_p[aram] name output any ionosphere model parameters to file 'name'
++ion_p[aram] name append any ionosphere model parameters to file 'name'
-ion_p[aram] don't output ionosphere model parameters except to RINEX nav header (default)

where the command options above follow the same form as several other options
that have been discussed so far for outputting special parameters, such as '+eds',
'+rx_state', '+psp', '+diag', and 'dUTC_p' discussed in earlier tips of the week.

Like the '+dUTC_p' options, the '+ion_p' options get their output formatting from
the optional RINEX 2.11 header fields, i.e. (ftp://igs.org/pub/data/format/rinex211.txt):

GPS (Table A3):
*|ION ALPHA | Ionosphere parameters A0-A3 of almanac | 2X,4D12.4 |*
  | | (page 18 of subframe 4) | |
  +--------------------+------------------------------------------+------------+
*|ION BETA | Ionosphere parameters B0-B3 of almanac | 2X,4D12.4 |*

although for the '+ion_p' output, the start of each line has the constellation (and SV id,
if known). An example:

[6764] teqc -javad jps +quiet +ion_p .. msu_tre3_v3610_gdld_wn_01.jps > /dev/n>
G 8.3819D-09 -7.4506D-09 -5.9605D-08 5.9605D-08 ION ALPHA
G 8.8064D+04 -3.2768D+04 -1.9661D+05 1.9661D+05 ION BETA
E01 5.5000D+01 3.9062D-03 -9.1553D-05 ION ALPHA
E08 5.5000D+01 3.9062D-03 -9.1553D-05 ION ALPHA
E09 5.5000D+01 3.9062D-03 -9.1553D-05 ION ALPHA
E12 5.5000D+01 3.9062D-03 -9.1553D-05 ION ALPHA
E18 5.5000D+01 3.9062D-03 -9.1553D-05 ION ALPHA
E22 5.5000D+01 3.9062D-03 -9.1553D-05 ION ALPHA
E24 5.5000D+01 3.9062D-03 -9.1553D-05 ION ALPHA
E26 5.5000D+01 3.9062D-03 -9.1553D-05 ION ALPHA
...

Teqc outputs each case found for each constellation if any parameter is different from the
previous case in that constellation, including the SV id. Note that the Galileo
constellation only has three parameters for the ionosphere model, whereas GPS has four
parameters for the two L1 and L2 carrier frequencies, alpha and beta respectively.

This is a simple and clean way to get all the ionospheric model parameters from raw data
without having to search through RINEX navigation file headers -- which will probably only
have an incomplete set anyway.

Happy teqc-ing!

cheers,
--lou
