[teqc] helpful tip of week 2026

This week's tip: qc: when the antenna is moving (a lot)

This tip is for those of you who sometimes are looking at data collected from
receiver and antenna on a mobile platform, e.g. like a skier, or camel, or
aircraft, or LEO satellite. There are a few special options that you will
want to use or may consider using:

'-ap' = don't compute average point position (PP) during qc
'+eep' = do (or at least attempt) a PP for every epoch (silently)

If the platform is moving, you are probably not interested in an average position,
which is normally what teqc reports at the end in its summary. And, in order
to get the most optimal qc from teqc, you will want to make sure that teqc is
doing (or at least attempting) a PP at every epoch so that the metrics based on
SV elevation and so on will be as accurate as the qc will allow.

Using just '+eep' enforces an "every epoch position" attempt, but the PP's that
are computed at every epoch will not be output. If you want to see teqc's PPs output
for every epoch, then instead of '+eep', use one use of these options:

'+eepx' = do every epoch's position and show results in xyz cartesian coordinates
'+eepg' = do every epoch's position and show results in geodetic coordinates (*)

And as a reminder, starting with teqc version 2018Oct15 there is an additional
consideration if the platform is operating at elevations above (or even near)
9000 meters above the WGS84 ellipsoid, e.g. see also tip of week 2023:

'-pos_h_max[m] #' to set a maximum elevation threshold value #, in meters, above the ellipsoid
                      (the default is 9000 meters)

and maybe also:

'-pos_h_min[m] #' to set a minimum elevation threshold value #, in meters, above the ellipsoid
                      (the default is -500 meters)

All the other qc options can also be used with these, if desired, e.g. like those
covered in tip of week 2024, https://postal.unavco.org/pipermail/teqc/2018/002557.html

Happy teqc-ing!

* The option '+eepg' outputs the latitude and longitude as integer degrees, integer minutes,
and decimal seconds. The next release of teqc will have a new option, '+eepd', which will
output the latitude and longitude in decimal degrees.
