Assistant or Associate Professor in Computational Solid Earth Geophysics
Department of Physics, New Mexico State University
The Department of Physics at New Mexico State University invites applications
for a tenure-track position in Computational Geophysics. The appointment will be
at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor depending on the candidate's
qualifications. Specialties could include, but are not limited to, complexity in
Earth processes, geodynamics, seismology, geodesy, and related areas in solid
earth geophysics. The applicants must have a Ph.D. in geophysics, physics, or a
related area. Postdoctoral research experience is desirable. The successful
candidate will be expected to ineract with, complement and strengthen the
existing programs in tectonics, seismology and mineral physics, develop a
vigorous, externally funded research program, and teach physics and geophysics
courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Opportunities for
collaboration and joint support are available at the many research institutions
in New Mexico, including Los Alamos National Laboratory and the Santa Fe
Institute. Applicants should send a letter of application, curriculum vitae,
statements of teaching philosophy and research interests, and the names and
