To the UNAVCO Community:

The UNAVCO Board of Directors is forming an 
Education and Outreach Standing Committee, and we 
are looking for scientists, a graduate student, 
an undergraduate student, and a secondary school 
science teacher to serve on this committee.  The 
charge to the committee is provide below.

If you are interested, or if you want to nominate 
colleagues, students, or teaching who could 
contribute to this committee, please contact 
Susan Eriksson, the UNAVCO Education and Outreach 
Coordinator

Susan will be at AGU next week if you want to 
introduce a student or talk with her in more 
detail about UNAVCO's strategic planning for 
Education and Outreach. Find her at the UNAVCO 
booth!

Charge to the UNAVCO Education and Outreach Standing Committee

The Education and Outreach Standing Committee is 
a Board Standing Committee.  The purpose of the 
Education and Outreach Committee is to advise 
UNAVCO Board in priorities relating to the 
Education and Outreach mission of UNAVCO, to 
advocate for Education and Outreach within the 
UNAVCO community, and to ensure that UNAVCO’s 
Education and Outreach program adheres to the 
strategic directions established by UNAVCO.

The major short-term task for the committee is to 
help the Education and Outreach coordinator in 
establishing the Education and Outreach component 
to the UNAVCO Strategic Plan. The committee shall 
meet twice a year in person (UNAVCO Annual 
Meeting and Fall AGU) with regular teleconference 
meetings as established by the E&O Coordinator 
and the Chair of the Committee.
