Postdoctoral Scholar Position in Geophysics, University of Utah
The University of Utah Department of Geology and Geophysics invites
applications for a postdoctoral scholar working in seismology and
geodynamics of the Yellowstone volcanic field and the Yellowstone
hotspot. The position involves analyses of earthquake and geodetic
data, tomography and wave propagation analyses, kinematics, etc. of
volcanic and hydrothermal systems. Opportunities include geodynamic
modeling of the Yellowstone hotspot, volcano-tectonic seismology,
volcano-fault stress interactions, etc.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in Geophysics at time of
appointment. The candidate should have a demonstrated capability in
earthquake data analyses and programming skills in C, Fortran,
scripting, etc. The position will include collaboration with
personnel of the Yellowstone Volcano Observatory and with students
and faculty working on related projects. The initial appointment will
be for one-year, starting Fall 2005 or negotiated, with the
possibility of extension depending on performance. Salary is
commensurate with qualifications and department guidelines.
