Lecturer in Geophysics / Tectonics (fixed term - 3 years)
The Institute of Geophysics and Tectonics within the School of Earth and
Environment, is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and self-motivated
lecturer in the general area of Geophysics or Tectonics for a fixed-term
position of three years. The successful applicant will be expected to:
* teach in the geophysics programs of the School on undergraduate and
MSc level, including geophysical fieldwork,
* conduct independent and collaborative research in Geophysics or
Tectonics.
* publish scientific papers,
* co-supervise undergraduate and postgraduate (MSc and PhD) research
projects.
The Institute has a strong international profile in a diverse range of
geophysical disciplines including Geomagnetism, Geodynamics, Active
Tectonics, Seismology, Satellite Geodesy, Applied Geophysics and Physical
Volcanology. While the specific research interests of applicants can
reflect any aspects of Geophysics or Tectonics, the ideal candidate will
be engaged in research in active tectonic or volcanic processes and be
able to pursue a vigorous research program in collaboration with existing
researchers in these areas at Leeds

a relevant field of Geophysics / Tectonics and preferably appropriate
postdoctoral experience in a university or research institute. Some
teaching experience in Higher Education is desirable.
Anticipated start date 1st September 2009 or by mutual agreement.
Salary: Appointment grade: University Grade 7 (29704 - 35,469) or grade 8
(36,532 - 43,622 p.a.), depending on experience.
