Land Information New Zealand is the National Surveying and Mapping agency
of New Zealand (www.linz.govt.nz). We are seeking an organised and
motivated geodesist or surveyor for an operational role in our National
Geodetic Office.
The role involves managing and processing GNSS data from our PositioNZ
CORS network (www.linz.govt.nz/positionz) and contributing data to
regional and global reference frames. It will involve working closely
with GNS Science (www.gns.cri.nz) who operate the PositioNZ network for
LINZ. We require a team player with a postgraduate degree in geodesy or
surveying, and experience with high-precision GNSS processing using
software such as Bernese. The successful applicant will also contribute
to the development of New Zealand’s semi-dynamic national datum NZGD2000.
Job responsibilities:
* Analysis and processing of GNSS data from the PositioNZ CORS network
* Integration of data from other CORS sites in New Zealand into a
National CORS network
* Contribute GNSS data to the development of regional and global
reference frames
* Assist with the ongoing development of the PositioNZ network and a
National CORS network in New Zealand
* Assist with the ongoing development and upgrade of New Zealand’s
semi-dynamic national datum, NZGD2000
Required educational qualifications and personal skills:
* Relevant higher education at university level/Masters Degree or Ph.D
* Experience with GPS/GLONASS analysis and satellite based navigation
systems.
* Have a knowledge of how global reference frames are developed
* A programming background would be an advantage
* Written and oral proficiency in the English language and ability to
communicate in national and international technical forums
* Ability to work independently, meet new challenges and be a good mentor
and communicator
* Be proactive, positive, creative, enthusiastic and a good team player
The salary will be dependent on the experience and skills of the
successful applicant.
This is a permanent position based at the National Geodetic Office of Land
Information New Zealand, in Wellington, New Zealand.
