> Dear Colleagues:
>
> I am writing to encourage to nominate outstanding young tectonophysicists for the Jason Morgan Early Career Award of the AGU. I know that we are all under great time pressures during these times of financial stress of the nation. Nevertheless, our young members need to be recognized for their achievements. I urge you to take the time to make such a nomination before the deadline of 31 May 2011.
>
> The Jason Morgan Early Career Award recognizes significant contributions to tectonophysics at an early career stage. In so doing, the Tectonophysics section acknowledges the exceptional potential of the awardee, and fully supports continued contributions to tectonophysics. Recent awardees are Kaj Johnson (2009) and John Hernlund (2010).
>
> Nominations are solicited from members or affiliates of the Tectonophysics section for outstanding early-career scientists whose Ph.D. was earned no more than 6 years prior to the nomination deadline. The awardee will have the AGU Fall Meeting registration fees waived, and the award will be presented at the Tectonophysics reception at the Fall Meeting and prior to the Birch Lecture.
>

> 4. Up to three letters of support.
>
> Nominations must be received by the deadline and should be submitted electronically to Carolina Lithgow-Bertelloni, secretary of the Tectonophysics section, at: c.lithgow-bertelloni at ucl.ac.uk.
