> We've revised the EarthScope solicitation for the July 2012 deadline. The revised solicitation can be found at www.nsf.gov/earthscope.
> We wanted to highlight the major changes in this revision:
> 1. We've specified that proposals are eligible for the EarthScope program if they are for "scientific research and/or education and outreach activities within North America that make use of capabilities and/or data provided through the EarthScope Facility to further the scientific and educational goals of EarthScope." In other words, an EarthScope proposal now must (a) be for work inside North America and (b) use the EarthScope Facility in some way.
> 2. We've instituted a limit of two proposals per PI per year.
> 3. We invite proposals for PI-driven research using the SAFOD Main Hole. The solicitation provides extra instructions for submitting such a proposal; please follow those instructions carefully.
> 4. As always, if you're considering a submission to EarthScope, we encourage you to call one of us during your preparation process. Please note that if you're considering a proposal that would have an annual budget exceeding $300,000 (either for an individual proposal OR in total across a collaboration), we very strongly encourage you to call one of us as early as possible in the proposal development process.
> 5. If you're granted an award through the EarthScope program, we will require you to send to the EarthScope National Office full bibliographic references for all publications resulting from your EarthScope award.
> Please contact us if you have any questions about EarthScope.
> Best regards,
> Greg Anderson and Chuck Estabrook
