*Station Deployment Coordinator - USArray Transportable Array
(Anchorage, AK)
*

*UPDATE: Review of applications will begin on April 7th. Those received
before that date will be given priority.

* The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS,
www.iris.edu) seeks a Station Deployment Coordinator to lead the effort
to install EarthScope USArray Transportable Array (TA) stations in
Alaska and very western Canada (www.usarray.org/Alaska) over the next
several years.

The Station Deployment Coordinator will work primarily from the Array
Operation Center (AOC) in Anchorage, serving as the interface between
the senior TA management and the Alaska-based TA support staff and
installation crews. This position is responsible for overseeing all
aspects of field-related activities related to the construction and
operation of the TA sites. Tasks include routine reporting, management
of schedules, and coordination of personnel and materials as well as
regular interaction with partner agencies, education partners, and the
larger TA team. This position provides a unique opportunity to apply
scientific knowledge and engineering skills to the creation of an
unprecedented seismological observatory in a magnificent geophysical
setting.

The ideal candidate will have a master's degree in geophysics or a
related field and/or several years of relevant experience deploying and
operating seismometers or managing a large seismic network, particularly
in remote field environments similar to those encountered in Alaska.
Knowledge of transportation methods applicable to the region and remote
communication practices is a plus. This position requires excellent
communication, organizational, and time management skills as well as a
team-oriented mindset and the skill to negotiate, resolve conflicts,
solve problems, and network with a variety of different individuals and
organizations. IRIS is a geographically distributed organization, and
the Station Deployment Coordinator will be expected to work
independently outside of a traditional office environment. There will be
periodic travel across the region, including driving and occasionally
strenuous field activities.

We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefits. Candidates should
submit a letter of interest, a resume highlighting pertinent work
experience, and the contact information (name, phone number, and email)
for at least three references. To apply, these should be sent
electronically to hr at iris.edu with the subject line "Station Deployment
Coordinator". The position is available immediately and will remain open
until filled. More information is available here:
