Postdoc position available at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography
We seek to fill a position at the Postdoctoral Researcher level in the Scripps Glaciology Group, Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO), University of California San Diego (UCSD), in La Jolla, Southern California.  See: http://scripps.ucsd.edu/ & http://glaciology.ucsd.edu 

The successful applicant will work mainly with satellite and airborne altimetry data (ICESat, Envisat, CryoSat-2, IceBridge and simulated ICESat-2) on one or more related projects on the Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets, depending on their previous experience and interest, including: Antarctic ice shelf change and stability and links to oceanic and climatic forcings; Antarctic ice shelf grounding zones; andAntarctic subglacial lakes and their effect on ice dynamics. Previous experience in satellite radar and/or laser altimetry is highly desirable.  Proficiency in IDL and/or Matlab and a solid understanding of GPS and geodesy would be a bonus.

Salary for the position will be determined by the University commensurate with qualifications and experience and based on the University of California pay scale, plus benefits.  Starting date is negotiable, but ideally the candidate would be available to start on or before 14th April 2014. The position is for one year, with renewal for a second year subject to performance and funding availability.
