Assistant professor in geophysics at the University of Iceland
The School of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Earth Sciences at the University of Iceland invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professorship in Geophysics.
The successful applicant will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in geophysics and to pursue an innovative research program with emphasis on renewable energy resources. The successful candidate is expected to develop international collaboration within his/her field of expertise.
A PhD in geophysics is required. Applicants with postdoctoral experience are preferred. Good communication and collaboration skills are essential assets. The candidate’s field of expertise should complement the strengths of the Faculty and the IES. This is a tenure-track position with an initial appointment of five years.
The application deadline is August 11th 2014. The successful candidate will be expected to start no later than January 2015.

The Faculty of Earth Sciences and the Institute of Earth Sciences (http://english.hi.is/von/faculty_of_earth_sciences/main_menu/home, http://www.earthice.is) are responsible for teaching and research in geology and geophysics at the University of Iceland. The Institute of Earth Sciences, an independent unit within the Science Institute, is the main forum for academic research in geosciences at the University and in Iceland.
