*Geology Assistant Professor*



The Macalester College Department of Geology invites applications for a
tenure track

position at the Assistant Professor level in the broadly defined areas
of *structural
geology, geophysics, and/or energy and natural resources,* to begin in Fall
2015. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences or a related field.
The successful candidate will teach courses across the undergraduate
Geology curriculum, including an upper level course in Structural Geology
and one of the core introductory geology courses. Other possible courses
could include Tectonics and Mountain Building, Geophysics, Metamorphic
Petrology, Mineral Resources, or Economic Geology, and the candidate will
be encouraged to develop courses related to their specific interests and
expertise. Demonstrated success in teaching and collaborative research at
the undergraduate level is desirable. The successful candidate will be
expected to maintain their scholarly work and conduct research with
undergraduates. The ability to enhance the diversity of the department and
serve as a role model for women and/or underrepresented students is
considered an asset. Current strengths in the department include
paleobiology, sedimentary geology, geochemistry and petrology, surface
processes, and paleoclimate. More information about the department can be
