UNAVCO Community:

If you have worked with any NSF facility - including UNAVCO - on the broader impacts portion of your research, please consider submitting an abstract to the session summarized below. This is a great opportunity to share with others how you are broadening the reach and impact of your science.

(Session ID 9174; https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm15/preliminaryview.cgi/Session9174 <https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm15/preliminaryview.cgi/Session9174>)

Education and Outreach Through Large Facilities: Innovative Approaches to Sharing Geophysical Research and Evaluating the Broader Impacts Large NSF facilities are a major geophysical data and equipment resource for researchers, and they play a key role in the education, outreach, and communications of the scientific activities and discoveries enabled by the facilities. Such activities add currency and value to formal and informal geoscience education in many forms, including K-12 and college teaching, STEM teacher preparation and professional development, place-based education, and public Earth science literacy programs. The scale and longevity of the facilities also help foster the development of longer-term impacts. This session offers an opportunity for educators, scientists, outreach and communications specialists to share their innovative approaches to informing students, the public and key stakeholders of the geophysical research they support, and share the techniques they employ to evaluate the impact of those programs.

Reach out to any of of us with questions.
