Join us March 29 - 31, 2016 at the Omni Interlocken Hotel, Broomfield, CO. We are offering a program of scientific and technical sessions that span all aspects of the geosphere.

February 29 is the deadline to register for the 2016 UNAVCO Science Workshop: Geosphere Science - Positioning UNAVCO, Advancing Geodesy! Note that due to flat funding and meeting popularity, we have had to introduce a registration fee of $300 for early birds until February 29; $575 thereafter.

The meeting website (also linked from our home page):

Plenary sessions across the geosciences, and across the geosphere:
Litho - Deep
Litho - Shallow

We also have a roster of Special Topics Sessions (breakouts) that some of you will be asked to help lead (or feel free to volunteer):
WinSAR and Terrestrial Radar
Real-time GPS/GNSS and Accelerometers
Science and Broader Impacts - Support of Early Career Investigators
Data Products (Processing and Frame) and Community Software
Polar Networks
Geodesy in Field Education
Terrestrial Geodetic Imaging: TLS, MLS, SfM, sUAS
Realizing GNSS - Primer on New GNSS Receiver Technology
Event Response
The evening keynote speaker will be Maria Zuber. She is the E. A. Griswold Professor of Geophysics, Vice President for Research, MIT & recently the Principal Investigator of NASA's Gravity Recovery and Interior Laboratory (GRAIL) Mission.

      Ignite UNAVCO:

Wednesday evening Ignite! session – Early career perspectives on the future of geodesy. Sign up when you register or drop an email to: Jaime Magliocca <magliocca at unavco.org <mailto:magliocca at unavco.org>>

Ignite is a forum of short, fast paced, thought-provoking talks, where presenters get five minutes, 20 slides, and a 15-second auto advance to make their point. The Ignite sessions are meant to held in an informal venue – ours will be in the evening with refreshments. Some of you may be familiar with Ignite or may have seen UNAVCO's previous Ignite session (https://www.unavco.org/community/meetings-events/2014/sciworkshop14/ignite.html).

This is meant to be a lighthearted event to capture community reflections on where the science is headed. Should be fun!

Wednesday afternoon options:
Option 1: Field Trip: Dinosaur Ridge/Red Rocks - Lon Abbot (CU)
Option 2: Visit to UNAVCO Facility - Joe Pettit (UNAVCO)
Option 3: Short Course – Open Source Processing Tools - ALS, MSL
Option 4: Short Course – Geodesy Tools for Societal Issues (GETSI) curriculum resources
Lunch roundtables:
Schedule your favorite topic now by writing Jaime…..
Societal Impacts and Natural Hazards
Dataworks for GNSS (archive management tools)
Communicating Science to Policy Makers
Mentor a Student - E/NET
Sign up to mentor a student (or to be mentored!) during the workshop... UNAVCO ECE will structure and support your activities

Submit an abstract with graphics for your invited talk or contributed poster, to share with colleagues on the workshop website and inform a workshop report.

Submit a one-pager that makes the case for emerging opportunity in the geosciences that can be realized using geodesy!

See you there,
