Apologies for cross-posting:
As President-Elect of the Geodesy Section, it is my happy work to encourage you to come forward with a rich suite of nominations for Section and other relevant awards. Because Geodesy is such a rich and vibrant discipline, and you know the smart and creative people who make that so, the section leadership needs your nominations of worthy colleagues.
AGU Geodesy Section grants two Geodesy awards and one joint with Seismology and Tectonophysics:
GEODESY SECTION AWARD
Established in 2005, the Geodesy Section Award is given annually to an early or mid-career honoree in recognition of major advances in geodesy. Major advances can be in (1) geodetic science, (2) technology, (3) applications, (4) observations, or (5) theory.
IVAN I. MUELLER AWARD FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AND LEADERSHIP
Ivan I. Mueller Award for Distinguished Service and Leadership is given annually to one honoree in recognition of major achievements in service and/or leadership to the geodesy community.
PAUL G. SILVER AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING SCIENTIFIC SERVICE
Established in 2011, the Paul G. Silver Award is given annually to a scientist in recognition of outstanding contributions to the fields of geodesy, seismology, or tectonophysics through mentoring of junior colleagues, leadership of community research initiatives, or other forms of unselfish collaboration in research.
The AGU Geodesy Section also accepts nominations for the Bowie Lecture, which honors the life and work of geodetic engineer and AGU’s first president, William Bowie. This Geodesy section named lecture is the premier scientific activity of the Geodesy section held during the AGU Fall Meeting. The Bowie Lecture is webcast and made available as an archived presentation on the AGU website.
Please see the following webpage for more information about nomination criteria and submissions:
