*Modeling Collaboratory for Subduction RCN **Program Coordinator Search*

Institute for Geophysics, JSG, UT Austin
August 21, 2018

NSF has recently committed to funding a three year, research collaboration
network (RCN) to plan the suggested Modeling Collaboratory for Subduction
(MCS) component of the SZ4D initiative. This community effort will organize
workshops and webinars as well as support collaboration among scientists
studying subduction, across spatio-temporal scales. The goal is to prepare
for a Modeling Collaboratory, a center for data-integrative modeling of the
subduction system including the exploration of physics-based models for
decadal-scale forecasting of earthquakes, volcanoes and tsunami
related hazards.

Thanks to NSF and Jackson School support, we are now looking for an
administrator (Senior Events Program Coordinator) who will dedicate 50% of
their time to the RCN. The tasks include handling workshops and outreach
programs, logistics, as well as supporting the science collaboration of the

The position will be based at the Institute for Geophysics (UTIG) of the
Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas at Austin. The
other 50% of this position will support similar operations at UTIG. UTIG
focuses on expeditionary-scale geophysical research, numerical modeling,
and computational-enabled discovery, conducting research in four broad
themes: climate; energy; marine geosciences, seismology and tectonophysics;
and polar and planetary geophysics. UTIG is an equal opportunity employer
and is committed to increasing the diversity of its community on a range of
intellectual and cultural dimensions.

Compensation starts at the junior post-doc level, and a B.Sc. in the Earth
Sciences or related fields is desired. For more information on the
position, please see UT's application page:
