We are happy to announce that the UNAVCO interactive science exhibit,
a Shifting Earth*, is now on display at the Pacific Science Center! PSC,
located in the heart of Seattle, Washington, receives more than 1 million
visitors a year! This exhibit pulls together hands-on displays with actual
components of a high-precision GPS station, like those of the Plate
Boundary Observatory, to raise public awareness about earthquake and
tsunami hazards of the Pacific Northwest and the geodetic technologies used
to measure and monitor them.

Learn more about the exhibit: From Slight to Sudden: How GPS Can Prepare
You for the Next Quake.

Earlier this year, the exhibit moved from its original installation at
Oregon State University’s Hatfield Marine Science Visitor Center (HMSC) in
Newport, Oregon. During its four years at Hatfield, more than 275,000
visitors interacted with the exhibit. PSC and UNAVCO worked together to
update the displays to include text in Spanish and complete basic
refurbishment. We also have an opportunity to expand the exhibit in the
near future!

Stop on by to visit the exhibit when you are in Seattle!
