UNAVCO Academic Members:

The NSF has issued a program solicitation focused on improving
undergraduate STEM education: *Improving Undergraduate STEM Education:

Sciences* (IUSE: GEOPAths, 20-516
<https://nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=505169>). [short synopsis

The solicitation encourages PIs to leverage NSF-funded facilities. If you
are considering submitting a proposal, *we encourage you to consider
leveraging the GAGE Facility and the Education and Community Engagement
Program*. We would be happy to help you in any way that makes sense from
formulating your project to collaborating on the execution of it.

Letters of Intent are required, due December 20. Full proposals are due
February 14. If you are interested in working with the GAGE facility please
reach out to me directly or to any ECE staff through education at unavco.org

*GEOPAths Synopsis*
IUSE:GEOPAths invites proposals that specifically address the current needs
and opportunities related to education within the geosciences community
through the formation of STEM Learning Ecosystems that engage students in
the study of the Earth, its oceans, polar regions and atmosphere. The
primary goal of the IUSE:GEOPAths funding opportunity is to increase the
number of students pursuing undergraduate and/or postgraduate degrees
through the design and testing of novel approaches that engage students in
authentic, career-relevant experiences in geoscience. In order to broaden
participation in the geosciences, engaging students from historically
excluded groups or from non-geoscience degree programs is a priority.
