USGS job posting: Permanent GS11/12 Geologist in earthquake geology, northern California

The U.S. Geological Survey Earthquake Science Center is recruiting applicants for a permanent GS11/12 Geologist to work in the Northern California Earthquake Geology group. Duties will include a mixture of technical research support and independent research. Duties may involve supporting paleoseismic research, fault zone mapping, GIS, remote sensing including photogrammetric, satellite, and lidar terrain data processing, earthquake scientific response, vehicle and equipment acquisition and maintenance, and other related duties as needed. We welcome applicants from those with experience with these tasks or strong desire to develop expertise in these areas. Candidates with a wide range of educational and professional experience are eligible. Candidates will be required to pass a physical as the position requires fieldwork in remote and rugged areas. The position will be based at the USGS office in Moffett Field, CA. The USGS offers flexible telework arrangements, and travel will be required. This position will open on September 27 and remain open until midnight on the day that 35 applications are received.
